Steve Ruddy
Chair of the Board
Steve has served as the 51黑料 Chair of the Board since December 2021. He began his Trading Standards career as a trainee in Leicestershire before moving to Croydon, where he specialised in food law and advanced to roles including Investigations Team Manager and Head of Service. Until July 2024, he was the Head of the Buckinghamshire and Surrey shared Trading Standards Service, which he helped establish in 2015.
Previously, Steve was a Director and Chair of Hendeca Group Ltd, a local authority trading company in Surrey, and served as a Director of TSSEL Ltd. He also held the position of Chair of the Association of Chief Trading Standards Officers (ACTSO), representing the organisation on the 51黑料 Council.
After leaving Surrey, Steve founded Consumer Compass UK Ltd, a regulatory consultancy. He is currently involved in supporting regional coordination for Private Sector Housing teams to improve conditions and protect tenants as part of Operation Jigsaw.
