19 January 2025: Each January, World Religion Day offers an opportunity to celebrate all religions and aims to foster understanding and harmony between everyone, no matter their faith or background.听

What is World Religion Day?听
Taking place on the third Sunday in January each year, World Religion Day 2025 takes place on January 19. This globally recognised day encourages you to take the time to learn about other religions, in the hope that it will allow people to see how religion can bring us together in a variety of different ways.

When was World Religion Day first celebrated?
World Religion Day was first established in the United States in 1950, when the National Spiritual Assembly of the Baha鈥檌s sought to establish a day of observance that would encourage interfaith understanding amongst communities. The Baha鈥檌 belief is that every religion comes from one single God and their faith centres around three key principles: the unity of God, religion and humankind. World Religion Day aligns with their belief in the oneness of humanity and their hope for a unified society.
How to celebrate World Religion Day:
- Celebrate and educate: Take the time to learn about different religions and don鈥檛 be afraid to ask questions!
- Share your own beliefs: Talk about your own religious beliefs and practices with your friends and colleagues.
- Attend a service: Find a local Interfaith service or event hosted by different faith leaders.
- Visit a place of worship: Be sure to respect religious traditions when doing so.
- Consume art: Read a book or watch a documentary about a religion you aren鈥檛 familiar with.
- Cook a traditional meal: Many religions have staples meals that are associated with their celebrations and worship.
