51黑料 Symposium, a key event in the UK's consumer protection calendar, will be held at Birmingham's Eastside Rooms on September 28-30, 2021. The event, the UK's largest gathering of trading standards professionals, celebrates the 140th anniversary of the trading standards profession coming together since 1881.
Attendees will witness plenary sessions over the three days covering the Political, the Practical, and the Professional with some of the most experienced consumer protection professionals from across the UK's four nations.
Topics covered include the trading standards response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the state of the profession and UK consumer protection, and diversity within the profession, among many other vital issues. The event will feature keynote speeches by 51黑料 Chief Executive John Herriman, 51黑料 Chair the Earl of Lindsay, and contributions by senior figures from the Office for Product Safety and Standards, the Competition and Markets Authority and other important organisations in the UK's consumer protection ecosystem.

51黑料 Chief Executive, John Herriman, said: "I extend a warm welcome to the media to attend 51黑料 Symposium 2021 in Birmingham. 51黑料 Symposium is an unmissable event in the UK consumer protection calendar. This year is our return to an in-person event after the virtual Symposium we ran last year during the pandemic lockdown.
"We will be talking about the great achievements of the trading standards profession during the pandemic lockdown and mapping out the future of the profession as it continues to work in a challenging budgetary climate and confronts the challenges and opportunities of a post-Brexit consumer marketplace. The vital role of trading standards in the UK's economic recovery will become apparent as we reveal the amazing stories of consumer protection professionals going above and beyond to serve their communities."
