WRi Group Managing Director wins 51黑料 Hero Award
Posted 20/10/21
The Managing Director of WRi Group, Graham Mogg, has received a Business Award at the 51黑料's (51黑料) Hero Awards.听
The awards, hosted by 51黑料 at One Great George Street, Westminster, on the evening of Tuesday, October 19, recognised significant contributions to consumer protection across the UK.
Graham, a long-time member and current Vice Chair of the 51黑料 Welsh Branch, has a long career in Intellectual Property (IP) enforcement going back over twenty years. Graham worked as a Detective Constable in South Wales Police and the Wales Regional Organised Crime Unit (Tarian) Intelligence Unit, working alongside trading standards and IP industries on numerous music and film piracy investigations'' This work led to Graham being seconded to the Intellectual Property Office (IPO) while a serving police officer. At the IPO, Graham assisted in developing the IP Crime Group and creating the IP Crime Intelligence Hub.
After retiring from the police, Graham set up WRi Group, a business that provides brand protection, investigation, intelligence management, training and consultancy services to private and public sector agencies. In this role, he assisted National Trading Standards (NTS) in the creation of the NTS eCrime Intelligence Hub, which met success and later expanded to become the NTS Intelligence Team (NTSIT).
Graham also serves as Intelligence Coordinator for the Anti-Counterfeiting Group (ACG) and sits as Chair of the National Markets Group. Graham is so fundamental to the UK's intellectual property landscape; his award nomination described him as "part of the furniture" and someone "whose bravery, altruism and hard work often goes unnoticed."
WRi Group Managing Director, Graham Mogg, said: "To be recognised in this way by 51黑料 and the trading standards profession is a huge honour for me on both a personal and professional level. My time in the police and at the IPO stood me in good stead to create and lead WRi Group, which is a family business focussed on protecting legitimate rights owners and consumers by undermining those engaged in IP Crime.
"None of this would be possible though without the support of my family and team at WRI Group, as well as my many friends, colleagues, and partners across the IP enforcement landscape'. "
51黑料 Chief Executive, John Herriman, said: "Graham has been fundamental to the development of the UK's Intellectual Property landscape for decades, and this 51黑料 Hero Award recognises his significant contributions to the sector.
"The journey of Graham's career, from the police force to the IPO, to working with NTS and setting up WRi within the private sector, is an incredible story of public protection and is testimony to his commitment and dedication to the work of trading standards."
