STAGE 2 Training Courses (2025/2026)

The information on this page refers to STAGE 2 of 51ºÚÁÏ's Qualification Framework (QF).
The collaborative training courses provided are an aid to your learning in preparation for the qualification framework assessments.
The training covers the core areas as part of the distance learning and contact days, however, any area in the syllabus can be covered within the unit assessments. ÌýPlease ensure you are familiar with all of the syllabus and undertake your own learning separately.
On successful completion of all Stage 2 Units, candidates will be awarded the:

STAGE 2 - UNIT SUMMARIES
Unit 4 : Weights & Measures TrainingÌý
This unit will provide you with the knowledge and understanding of the legal metrology framework in the UK (and how it interacts with the EU). You will learn about the legal requirements for the principles of measurement of mass, length, volume follow and density. You will learn how to examine and test equipment and apply your regulatory powers and take appropriate enforcement action when errors are identified.
Unit 4 : Weights and Measures Practical and Oral Training
This training is aimed at students undertaking the weights and measures unit and will provide an understanding of the equipment that you may be tested on as well as the exam process associated with the practical and oral exams
Unit 4 : Maths for Metrologists Training
A maths refresher course for those studying Legal Metrology and how common maths appears in a metrologists duty from calibrating standards to determining quantities of goods and Unit Pricing issues.
Unit 4 : Weights and Measures Professional Interview Mock Day
The course will consist of virtual training delivered to a maximum of 6 delegates and will be delivered in two halves.ÌýThe first half will cover: What is the professional interview? What is included in the professional interview and what isn't, What types of scenario to expect, What types of questions to expect, How to prepare, Review of a previous scenario.ÌýThe second half will be Mock interviews and feedback.
Unit 4 : Feed Training
This unit will provide you with the knowledge and key understanding of the application of feed law. You will learn about the legal requirements in relation to food standards, including formal sampling, their application to food. Additionally, you will learn about how food affects health and well-being.
Unit 4 : Feed Oral Training
The day is centred on preparation for the feed oral examination. The tutor will go through the expectations of the examiner and with case scenarios will prepare candidates on what is expected of them in order to successfully pass the examination. The day will also assist in preparation for the written examination and the practical application of the law.
Unit 4 : Food Training
This unit will provide you with an understanding and knowledge of the legal requirements in relation to food standards including formal sampling, their application to food. You will also learn how food affects health and well-being.
Unit 4 : Food Oral Training
The day is preparation for the Food Oral examination. There will be an initial presentation outlining what the candidates can expect from the exam. This will be followed by individual mock examinations, given by the trainer, to allow the candidates some experience of exam conditions.
Unit 4 : Practical Food Sampling Training
This course will be suitable for candidates taking Food Standards and for those candidates completing their portfolio.
The course will consist of face-to-face training delivered to a maximum of 15 delegates and will be delivered in two halves.ÌýThe first half will consist of a presentation of the legislation and controls on food sampling.ÌýBoth face-to-face delegates and external delegates will be able to ask questions as the presentation progresses.ÌýThe second half will consist of the face-to-face delegates, working in pairs, actually sampling a number of differing foodstuffs.ÌýEach pair will then feedback to the course on their sampling process and on any particular issues there may have been with their food stuff.
Unit 4 : Product Safety Training
This unit will provide you with the knowledge and understanding of product safety legislation and how it structures and facilitates the role of market surveillance operations and strategies to ensure the safety of consumer goods in the market.
Unit 5 : Investigations Training
This unit will provide you with the knowledge of key investigative practices; principles; processes and legal controls on conducting an investigation into a breach of legislation. Regardless of whether or not it is criminal or civil in nature. You will gain an understanding of the criminal and civil legislative mechanisms and controls, to allow for effective enforcement and regulation. You will also learn in detail the procedural framework for investigation and evidence gathering.
Unit 6 : Regulating Markets Training
This unit will provide you with the knowledge and understanding of the procedures and processes which market surveillance officers use to regulate the market in goods.
Portfolio Building Day
This training session is suitable to those who are new to Portfolio Building right through to experienced candidates who have previously built portfolios.
